Device Security Check
The device-side companion to your website scan. It audits a computer's security posture — disk encryption, firewall, updates, screen lock, built-in protection — and produces a plain-English report mapped to NIST / CIS controls. It reads settings only: it changes nothing, installs nothing, and nothing leaves the device.
Not antivirus — an honest assessment of security hygiene, not real-time protection. For protection keep your OS updated and its built-in defender on.
How to run it
- macOS: open Terminal, then
bash ~/Downloads/mcproof-device-check.sh - Windows: right-click the file → Run with PowerShell (or
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File mcproof-device-check.ps1) - A branded report opens automatically and is saved to your Desktop.
What it checks
- Disk encryption (FileVault / BitLocker)
- Firewall
- Antivirus / app protection (Defender / Gatekeeper)
- OS integrity & updates
- Password-protected screen lock
- Least privilege & Guest account
- Remote access (SSH / RDP)
